Space Shuttle Project

gm0267 - Developed and Published by Absolute Entertainment, Inc., the rare "Space Shuttle Project" was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in October of 1991. This offering is a 3rd-Person Perspective, Side-Scrolling action game that simulates a Space Shuttle activity from pre-launch to missions to successful landing. It has many diverse aspects to its gameplay with, with a nice mixture of different things to do. You play the game as the commander of different space shuttles that the launch director has assigned to you in order to complete certain NASA Space missions. As such, you are tasked to complete four stages of each flight. 1., you and your crew must fuel and board the space shuttle correctly. 2., you must fly the Space shuttle into orbit taking care to correctly disconnect the rocket boasters (SRB) and the external tank (ET). 3., you must complete your mission in space, which will consist of things like launching satellites, saving a Russian cosmonaut and building a space station. And 4., you must fly the Space ship to reenter the earth's atmosphere and successfully set down on a landing strip. There are 6 different missions and each one is more difficult than the last. You begin the game with 5 life points, and can gain other lives outside of the shuttle by obtaining floating white orbs. So you are only allowed 5 failed attempts before the whole mission fails. The graphics are not bad, the gameplay excellent as the designers took great care to render an accurate depiction of space shuttle missions. The sound effects and music tracks are very good, with some great and catchy songs. Space Shuttle Project features a password save which is available only by adding the supplied password numbers and space shuttle name instead of the memorized numbers at the security check. The game has the necessary length and utilizes a password system to use after missions. Each mission is different and completed only after you have successfully taken off, completed the objective in space, and returned for a successful landing. Space Shuttle Project is a complex, sometimes difficult but always entertaining Space Flight simulator NES game that has a certain appeal that draws you back day after day to complete missions. Includes game only, no manual or instructions are included. Space Shuttle Project game review by Prince NES Gamer.
