N64GM049 - Developed by and published by Midway Home Entertainment, Inc., "Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey" was released for the Nintendo 64 game system on November 11, 1996. This is an incredible port of the great classic arcade game, smoothly harmonizing open ice styled gameplay with traditional hockey. Complete with skill skating, fighting and hard hitting teeth rattling checks, Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey is non-stop action and so much fun to play. Another of the great aspects of Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey is that it carries the NHLPA and NHL licenses, which means it is complete with all 26 official N.H.L. hockey teams and players with their real logos and names. And you play a full season, complete with all the statistics. You can play in arcade style arenas or in official regulation arenas. There are many diverse modes to play in, such as three-on-three teams, four-on-four teams or five-on-five teams. as far as gameplay, it is excellent, with simple controls that are very effective. The graphics are also very nice, as the players are polygonal characters with a lifelike look and feel, right down to the facial details, such as missing teeth. And the rink, arenas and action sequences are created with texture mapping, motion capture and 3-D animation, which makes for a solid action game. As far as visuals, the diverse camera angles in a full 3D environment make for a realistic environment. The sound effects are simply spectacular, with authentic organ music, player sounds and goal siren. The bottom line is, Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey is a hard-hitting, fast arcade action game that delivers in every way. Personally endorsed by player Wayne Gretzky. Pre-owned. Includes game cartridge only. ESRB Rating KA, Kids to Adults - Rarity Rating D - Review by NES Gamer
