#gm0014 - Developed and published by Konami Industry Co. Ltd., and released in April of 1990, Super Contra is the sequel to the great arcade game, Contra. The scenario of Contra II is that the arch Nemesis alien creature Red Falcon, has returned with even loftier plans of taking over the planet earth. You play as elite Marines from the Contra Unit, Scorpion (or in two player simultaneous mode, Scorpion or Mad Dog), and you must fight your way to the dastardly villain. There are five awesome levels, which start with recognizable earthly locations, and as you progress the locations become more alien like. The atmosphere and scenery are all fantastic both aesthetically as well as graphically, and the music is dead on! Keep your eyes open as you will find many great weapon upgrades along your journey as the game progresses. The game play is what you would expect from a Contra game. Along with it's predecessor Contra, Super Contra is one of the best shooter games of all for the NES. The game play is quick, responsive and the style is a combination of Top Down scrolling, platform, and side scrolling. All combined flawlessly to make this game a must have experience in shooter action! And with the wide variety of enemies to do battle with, it's an entertaining as well as exciting and engrossing experience. In Europe this game is entitled, "Probotector 2: Return of the Evil Forces," and in japan, "Super Contra: Alien no Gyakushu." but whatever it is called, it is another great game from konami.
