#gm0232 - Developed and Published by Capcom, "Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers" was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in June of 1990. Based on the popular characters from the Walt Disney cartoon series, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers is a side-scrolling NES action platformer game. You play this game as Chip, Dale or both. The rescue ranger themselves are two small chipmunks, two small mice and a little fly. The object of the game is to help these tiny heroes defeat the world's arch nemesis, Fat Cat, and of course his various minions! Your primary weapon is picking up objects that are found throughout the levels and throwing them at your enemies. The game play starts out simplistically enough, with a simple mission to rescue a small kitten, but you will find that it soon escalates into a story within a story, with secrets, intrigue and strategy that has the rescue rangers going up against the principle feline linchpin, Fat Cat. Rescue Gadget, the tech wizard of the team, from fat cat and save the day. I love the way this game was put together. The concept is simply awesome, the gameplay is very good, the soundtrack is enjoyable as well as memorable, and the graphics are top notch (in the style of Mega-Man) for the time. One of the greatest features of Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers is the co-op multiplayer mode, where you can play with a friend on a single screen. You even have the ability to use the "grab" button to throw your partner at the enemies, which ads to the competitiveness. But this game is fantastic in the single-player mode also. Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers is one of those game that everyone will enjoy. From kids to teens to adults, everyone will get something out of this adventure.
