GCG0019 - Developed by Hudson Soft Company, Ltd., and published by Nintendo of America Inc., "Mario Party 4" was released on October 21, 2002. This game is not really that rare, but is expensive because it is so popular. If you haven’t played any of the Mario games yet, I suggest you start with this one. Since the first Mario Party was released, the series has consistently delivered enjoyable challenging multiplayer game action. And this fourth entry, the first for the GameCube platform, is no exception. And while this obviously represents a giant graphical leap for the series, that doesn't detract from the stellar near perfect gameplay and tight controls. The story-line is that it is Mario's birthday, and five guest have presents for him that. But he must beat each of their boards in order to get the present. Straight forward enough! But you can play as any of your favorite Nintendo characters, either Mario, Peach, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Daisy, Yoshi, Wario and Waluigi. There are 5 new game boards with more events and over 50 completely new mini games, and a host of crazy items that make things fun. This game also features the ability to buy items in the shop to change the odds, and team play is an option. And of course, what's a Party without game support for up to four players. The object of the game is is to travel around the board, collecting as many stars or coins that you can in the allotted set number of turns. The sound and effects are all great, and appropriate, what you would expect, when you would expect it. The different modes include "Party mode," wherein up to four players can compete against each other, the "Story Mode," where you play against the AI, and the "Mini-Game Mode," wherein any of the mini games unlocked to that point can be played. All in all Mario Party four is one of a kind virtual game board, that is part board game and part arcade action. Through timely improvements, new game boards and some clever refinements, Hudson Soft has managed to keep the new entries fresh. Mario Party 4 features great atmosphere, addictive fun, great gameplay, and a lot of style and grace. One of the few sequels with enough newness to make it one of the best party games on the market. Which makes it a must have for any serious game collector. Pre-owned - Excellent condition, includes Case, Game, Instruction Manual and insert.
