#gm0085 - Developed and published by Nintendo Co., Ltd., and released in November of 1984, Excite Bike is a port of the arcade game and quickly became a NES classic. And the reason is that not only is it a solid port of the motocross game, but it also captures the excitement and addiction of it. In this, it is named appropriately. Revolutionary for it's time, Excite Bike simulated motocross in a fun addicting manner. You race against the clock, or you can race against bikers in the Championship. There are five nice tracks with obstacles and exciting jumps of varying degrees of difficulty. You can even design your own tracks and choose the number of laps. The graphics are crisp and very nicely done, with a level of detail rare in NES games of this early period. The gameplay is simple, and yet the game is not, and playing it becomes highly addictive. The riders control is very well done and responsive. Your Excitebike is equipped with normal speed and a turbo boost. Be careful how you use it. When it was released in 1884, Excite Bike was the original home console racer and one of the most popular and best games of the time. And it has held up very well.
