gm0222 - Developed and Published by Mindscape, Inc., "Mad Max" was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1990. A few bad reviews notwithstanding, Mad Max is actually an amazing scrolling post-apocalyptic action racing game. Loosely based on the movie of the same name, Max Max for NES is played from a top-down view. The game introduction is from the beginning of the Road warrior movie (Mad Max 2) declaring, how The Road Warrior, "lost everything by the roar of an engine" and how in these wastelands Mad max learned to live again. Thus you play the game as the enigmatic mad max, the Road warrior, and your existence is solely to drive your Interceptor through the post-apocalyptic wastelands, while attacking bandits and those like yourself who could care less about life, law or order. Make sure you have some weapons and pick up fuel tanks, because if you are out in the desert and run out of the juice, the game is over. The animation in this game is very clean and there is plenty of challenge in the 200 levels. The simulation of driving is good and works perfectly with a joystick or controller. What I really found interesting and unique is the plundering system of trade for weapons and fuel. All in all, a very enjoyable game and a nice addition to any game library. Preowned, includes game only - UPC: 91199001013 - ESRB Rating N/A - Rarity Rating C Mad Max game Review by "NES Gamer".
