Baseball Stars II

#gm0137 - Developed and published by Romstar Incorporated and released in July of 1992 this was the second in the Baseball Stars series. This offering is a rare find, especially in very good condition. It is a superb game with a more polished baseball style. Not only is this a step up from the original, but is arguably the best of the NES baseball games. Like the first game, it features a mode where you can create your own team. Baseball Stars II has 12 pre-made teams and 6 slots for creating teams. You can make the pennant chase last anywhere from 1 to 25 games. There is again a league mode, and the ability to upgrade, hire and fire players. In contrast to the first game in this series, you now have the ability to pick from 4 stadium where you can play, and there are no females in the game. The game play is great, and the players easy to control. The fielding control is programmed so simply and easily learned, and yet it still features as realistic a baseball game as the 8-bit NES can accomplish. The fielders can dive for balls and the pitching screen lets you keep an eye on the base runners. Yes, game play gets an A. The theme music in this game is good as well and the background music that plays throughout the game not annoying. As for the graphics, they are a step up from the first game, very appealing and stylish. There is also some pleasant background music that plays throughout the game. Like the first game, Baseball Stars 2 gives everyone hours of entertainment and is an exceptionally fun game to play. This is a rare game and so if you can pick up a copy, don't hesitate as it is definitely a NES collector's item. (Rarity Rating B+)
