gm0164 - Developed by Tengen and published by Mindscape, Inc., 720 Degrees was a conversion of the coin operated Arcade skateboarding game, and was released in 1989. This was the first extreme sports video game, and has a unique timing structure that requires the player score points in order to keep the game going. The scenario is that you are one of the top skateboarders in Skate City, one of the largest skate parks ever built. In 720 degrees you do jumps and tricks that will eventually earn you enough points to compete at a skate park. You want to participate in competitions to earn trophies and get money to use in the skate shops. These competitions are key, so if you don't get to one in time, Skate Or Die! The skate shops that are scattered throughout the park are where you can get power ups for your gear and improve your skills. Skate around pedestrians, crazed auto drivers, killer bees and cracked out hoodlums as you grind on rails and ollie off ramps. The name 720 Degrees comes from the supreme Skateboarding trick of turning a full 720 (not 360) degrees (two complete circles) in the air after jumping off a ramp. The game consists of four levels each consisting of four events. The events are Ramp, Downhill, Slalom and Jump. Completing all four events in all four Skate Boarding Level classes completes the game. Rarity Rating C. 720 Degrees Skateboarding NES game review by Prince "Nes Gamers."
