#gm0116 - Developed and published by Jaleco Entertainment Inc., and released in June of 1987, Bases Loaded was a new innovative addition to NES gaming. It was revolutionary in that it was first to incorporate the "behind the pitcher" point of view. You can select between one or two players, and it features a variety of options. You have twelve different teams that you must choose from, and each has 30 players from which you make your lineup. The graphics are very realistic and the sound is outstanding. Especially for it's day. The gameplay is also great with great control, and it's smooth animation was bound to make it a hit (excuse the pun). When on defense you both pitch and control all of the positions in the field. You can throw a variety of pitches from fastball to curve. When you are on offense you can steal bases, hit homers or even bunt (a lost art today) for a hit. A very nice realistic touch is that you can start a donny-brook by throwing a few bean balls. Bases Loaded allows you to play in a single game, or to compete in a complete pennant run. In Japan, Bases Loaded for NES is called "Moero!! Pro Yakyuu," meaning "Burn!! Pro Baseball." In any language, this is a NES classic and belongs in any collection.
