gm0112 - Developed and published by Ocean Software Ltd., and released in 1989, "The Untouchables" is based upon the film released a year earlier. It is a game that presents four different types gaming style. The side-scrolling platform game, the overhead shooter, a third-person gallery shooting gallery that is fixed, and one that scrolls from left to right. You play as Eliot Ness, the man in charge of ridding Chicago of Al Capone's crime family by traversing through seven multi-level stages. The game is made even harder because each level has a time limit, so you can't really dauttle. The levels are well-designed so that even though you are doing many different things, the controls are pretty constant throughout. There are a variety of weapons you can pick up, such as the era's weapon of choice, the Tommy Gun or a shotgun. The graphics of the Untouchables is very nice and the music and sound effects top notch. The game also is nice in that it allows you to choose between four different assignments. When you complete an assignment level, it brings you that much closer to the ultimate battle with the infamous Al Copone, alias Scarface. (Rarity Rating B-)
