Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego

sgm0119 - Developed by Brøderbund Software, Inc. and Published by Hi-Tech Expressions, Inc., "Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego" was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1992. This is the sequel to the SNES game, "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" and is an educational adventure with puzzle solving aspects, based on the old ibm/apple II computer game. The scenario is that the international Carmen Sandiego gang of thieves have struck again, and this time they are on the run through time. So it is up to you to put an end to this sly fox's criminal behavior by not only finding out where she is, but when. Do this and you can capture the stolen artifact and bring this international thief to justice. Each time period you visit has three things that you should investigate for clues, which are Witnesses, Informants and Scanner. There are 16 suspects. You begin the game in the position of Time Cadet, but as you progress and solve crimes you get promoted to Time Patroller, Time Investigator, Time Inspector, Time Detective, Ace Time Detective, and finally Super Time Sleuth. You travel through various times and places and conduct your investigation by discovering identities through interviewing witnesses, searching areas by checking your scanner for hidden objects, and in using informant information to find clues to Carmen's whereabouts. You will need to use your knowledge of history and geography wisely in order to track the criminals through periods and discover who they are. This popular SNES game originally came with the New America Desk Encyclopedia in order to help make your challenges more enlightening, edifying, informative and meaningful, and is a much tougher game than its SNES predecessor. As for the essentials, Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego has great gameplay and control and the graphics are a little above average. There is not a lot of music in the game so that's a minus (in my humble opinion), but it excels in replay value. I never would have thought I would enjoy an educational game this much, but this was fun, challenging and holds up very well even today. A nice little SNES game, just don't misinterpret the clues. Pre-owned - Includes Game Only, no encyclopedia, manual or instructions are included. Rarity Rating "B" - Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego for SNES game review by Prince NES Gamer.
