This 3rd-person perspective, top-down game was one of the most celebrated Bomberman titles produced. Bomberman 2 is the sequel to Bomberman for the Super Nintendo. It is similar to the original SNES hit in gameplay, but is improved tremendously, including colour coded bomb blasts, and it features sharp new levels and an entirely different story to play though. In this story you fight to escape an underground prison in the base of the Five Bad Bombers. You play this game by maneuvering your Bomberman around single-screen levels and using bombs to defeat aliens and enemy bombermen. Some of the enemy Bombermen can move very quickly while others not so fast. There are even some who turn themselves into bombs, while others may attract you to them magnetically. Your area is a maze type construction that is replete with blocks and many traps and mines making the game very entertaining. You can jump, push blocks, steal enemy vehicles, shoot yourself out of cannons and warp to different levels. Bomber man 2 also allows you to pick up different things like power gloves and accelerators that will allow you to turn Bombs to slime, increase speed, kick bombs and pass through soft blocks. After getting through multiple challenging levels, you will face a boss battle, where the object is to use your bombs on the boss multiple times to advance. The game also features hidden powerups that allow you to place more than one bomb at a time, to lay more powerful bombs and to move faster. The game play and control is some of the best and the the music sound effects are good and the tunes fit the atmosphere perfectly. The graphics are also very well done, very colorful, slightly different from the first game but in the same fun style as the first Bomberman for SNES. Super Bomberman 2 is an outstanding classic, a sound game, a great party game that is one of the best multiplayer games for the SNES.
