This rare 3rd-person perspective, top-down action game was the first of five in the series of Super Bomberman releases for the SNES. It was unique, inventive, and entertaining, and ranks as one of the best of the series. Super Bomberman features normal game play mode, as well as an awesome battle mode. In normal mode, the game scenario is that the dastardly Mr. Karat and Dr. Mukk have violently threatened Diamond City. And it is up to you to defeat them and bring peace throughout the lands. You travel through 6 different worlds, with each world having 8 diverse levels, with the last being a showdown with a Boss. Defeat all the bad guys, solve the puzzles, and you can move on to the next world. In battle mode, up to four players go head to head in a battle to the death. Players can be computer controlled or human controlled, with up to four players linked via the Super MultiTap accessory. This is without a doubt the highlight of Super Bomberman, as up to 4 "bombermen" can face each other in a head-to-head-to-head-to-head battle. The game control on Super Bomberman is fantastic, with smooth responsive movements. The graphics on the stages are outstanding, yet simple and colorful. And the music is top notch, upbeat yet not distracting from the gameplay. Nevertheless, it remains in your head hours after you're done playing. With powerups make things chaotic, Excellent multiplayer action, great graphics and sound, fun and challenging, what more could you ask for in a classic SNES game.
