#sgm0098 - Developed and Published by Virgin Games, Inc., "Cool Spot" was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) on December 10, 1993. "Cool Spot" is a very rare 3rd-Person Perspective colorful 2-D side scrolling action platformer that features the cool and lovable 7-up mascot, Spot. The scenario of the game is that Spot's friends (who are also spots) have all been kidnapped. Our hero sets out on a quest to find and free all the Spots. The objectives in Cool Spot for SNES are quite simple. All you have to do is collect enough bonuses throughout each of the 10 challenging level in order to find the trapped Spots. You must traverse these dangerous locations such as Coastal Beaches, Piers, Toy Stores and Docks. Each level looks very different and each has its own feel and atmosphere. There are many fearsome foes that Spot will have to battle to get to the destination, including Slime Balls, Biting Teeth, Unidentified Flying Objects and sinister Mice. I like the fact that if you are skilled enough you get play five bonus rounds that really test your skills. Remember, as the sole hero it is up to you to rescue your friends and return them to the land replete with carbonation Cool. The music always fits perfectly with the theme of each of the levels you are on. Simply amazing tunes that will stick in your head for days. The graphics very good, especially in the bonus levels. And the gameplay outstanding, if not difficult and challenging. The controls are quite responsive and the character easily maneuvered. You simply shoot and move, so it's not really complicated controls at all. Cool Spot is also known in some circles as "Spot and the Quest for Cool."
