Aero The Acrobat 2

#sgm0057 - SNES Game Review - Developed by Iguana Entertainment, Inc. and Published by SunSoft, "Aero The Acrobat 2" was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in November of 1994. And this rare sequel does what most others fail to do, which is to take the best elements of the first game, and smartly build upon it. The result is that Aero The Acrobat 2 is a fun filled, challenging, sonic-like, side-scrolling action platformer. In the first game, Aero had vanquished the mad scientist Dr. Edgar Ektor. But Ektor's freakish friend, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel, managed to save him before he met his death. So the mad scientist Dr. Edgar Ektor is back and up to his old tricks again. This time with a new and dastardly "Plan B". Helping the mad Ektor is another gang of twisted freaks. You will again play as our lovable and unusual acrobat hero, the circus bat named Aero. Your mission is to find and destroy Ektor before he carries out his diabolical "Plan B". As in the original Aero The Acrobat, in Aero The Acrobat II you will again have to jump your way through the 45 new and diverse levels, including my personal favorite, the very strange and unique snowboarding level. And something new, Aero can now slide under small gaps in the walls. Use your skills in Aero The Acrobat 2 to escape lethal obstacles, collect power-ups and progress in time. But don't be misled, this is not the same original Aero The Acrobat, so there are upgrades, hidden characters, bonus rounds, more items to collect, different themes, more moves for Aero and more mechanisms to use. There are a lot of new enemies to conquer and new moves to perform. Not to mention the chance stages. The graphics in Aero The Acrobat 2 are better, with a more smartly designed and better-animated Aero. There are bright colored backgrounds and sprites. The sound is greatly improved over the first game, and the music fits the game perfectly. The gameplay is still great, the controls remain easy to use, and the fun levels and diverse action makes Aero The Acrobat 2 as much fun as its predecessor. This is a fun game played in a world that is custom built for Aero's high-flying carnies adventures! Aero The Acrobat is also known in gaming circles as "ATA2," "ATA 2," and "Aero The Acro-Bat".
