The Lawnmower Man

sgm0085 - Developed by The Sales Curve Ltd., and Published by THQ Inc., "The LawnMower Man" was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1993. This is a rare 1st & 3rd-Person side-scrolling platformer game based on the 1992 movie of the same name. It is a sleeper, one of the unsung masterpieces, a fantastic "Classic" game that few people outside of the die-hard gamers community have even heard about. It loosely follows the same theme as the movie. The scenario of The Lawn Mower Man is that Dr. Lawrence Angelo is a scientist with a secret research assignment called "Project 5", that uses psychotropic drugs to increase the intelligence of primates. Unfortunately, he decides to use a simple-minded lawnmower man named Jobe as a guinea pig for his virtual reality experiments. But things go terribly wrong and Dr. Angelo unknowingly transforms Jobe into the superhuman Cyber-Jobe by these treatments. As Jobe's telekinetic powers increases, he decides to take revenge on those who abused him before the Doctor started the treatments. His ultimate goal is to take control over all the computers in the world. You play the SNES game by taking the role of Dr. Angelo or Carla Parkette (mother of Jobe's best friend) to try to keep CyberJobe from completing his evil plans of world domination. You can collect better weapons that will ultimately allow you to morph into the Virtual Suit, that will give you better defensive protection. When you go into the virtual cyber world, you must traverse dangerous tunnels and trails where the combatants are only limited by Jobe's imagination. You will visit many of the movie locations, including the VSI Headquarters and the gas pump. There are four different levels with different approaches to gameplay. They include, Virtual World, Cyber War, Cyber Run and Cyber Tube. You will be attacked by remote controlled vehicles as well as fight with more typical minions like Giant Wasps, evil guards and savage gorillas. The lawnmower man is a challenging and engrossing classic. The graphics are great and change between 3D and 2D. So take on the mission to see if you can save the world from The lawnmower Man.In Japan the Lawnmower Man is known as "Virtual Wars".
