SNES RF Shield (Top) Type 2

snspt025 - This is the newer model type 2 RF shield. It is essentially a piece of coated sheet metal whose purpose is to protect your SNES from getting corrupted by stray electromagnetic interference. It is also designed to minimize outside interference from any stray fields of adjacent electronic devices such as Radio, TV, mobile phones, etc. The RF shield is an integral part of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System design and removing it could significantly affect the sensitivity of the board. The quality of the video output may be degraded because of the interference the video signal will pick up, and picture quality will be affected. Therefore it should never be left out of your SNES system. Removing the old shield is easy as removing the seven screws that hold it in place. Adding a shield or replacing the shield is accomplished by reversing the process.
