Pilotwings 64

n64gm144 - Developed by Nintendo R&D3 / Paradigm Entertainment Inc. and Published by Nintendo of America Inc., "Pilotwings 64" was released for the Nintendo 64 (N64) Entertainment System on September 29, 1996. This game is Nintendo's joint effort with Paradigm Simulations (developers of military flight simulators) and they hit it out of the part with a realistic flight training experience that also allows you to take in awesome breathtaking sights. Pilot wings 64 is a 1st-Person / 3rd-Person Perspective very realistic flight simulator game, an update to the original PilotWings for the Super Nintendo. The game scenario is that you are a flight student enrolled in an aerial school receiving training in various flight techniques. You are in control of different aircraft as you attempt to earn your pilot licenses through various forms of flight. You will receive either a bronze, silver, or gold license based upon the number of points that you have attained in completing your training. The school student format allows you to go through various stages of training and challenges, that increase in difficulty as the game progresses. The difficulty in Pilotwings 64 is also affected by the locations and environments as well as weather weather conditions and wind speed. You start out with a limited number of aircraft and earn access to others and bonuses upon successful completion of certain missions. As your skills improve, you can even attempt stunts and trick maneuvers. You are given a set of challenges to complete with a variety of aircraft ranging from sailing a hang Glider while taking photos to flying gyro copter through a series of rings. The 3D graphics in Pilotwings 64 are outstanding for the N64 platform, with good rendering and great visuals and vast areas. I love how the focus seems to have been placed on allowing you to freely explore its detailed and expansive 3D environments, and I can play this game for hours. The gameplay and flying controls are simply outstanding. The game features near professional military level simulation control (no doubt due to the efforts of Paradigm Simulations). So forget about those other flight simulator games, because this is the premier flying experience. Pilotwing's flight mechanics clearly make it one of the most impressive flight simulator games ever designed. Considered by most gamers to be an instant classic and a a masterpiece in flight simulation, I recommend this game highly. The six playable pilots in the game are all named after various birds, and the Robin bird is called "Hooter" in the Japanese version. This game is also known simply as Pilot Wings.
