Mischief Makers

n64gm184 - Developed by Treasure Co., Ltd. and Published by Nintendo of America Inc., "Mischief Makers" is a moderately rare game that was released for the Nintendo 64 (N64) Entertainment System on October 1, 1997. Long regarded as one of Japan's most imaginative and talented game development team, Treasure has come up with a gem in this 2D futuristic 3rd-person perspective, side-scrolling platformer game. You assumes the role of the protagonist Marina Liteyears, assistant to Professor Theo. Marina is a robotic cleaning maid that is on a mission where she has to travel to rescue her kidnapped creator (Professor T.) from the evil grasp of emperor of Planet Clancer. Of course the emperor isn't about to just hand over his prize scientist, and he has amassed an army in an effort to thwart Marina from her plan to free him. The game features a lot of action, shaking, grabbing, collecting, throwing objects as well as puzzle solving. Mischief Makers features five expansive worlds (with about 10 levels each) with a variety of items and entertaining places, not to mention a vast collection of strange characters and enemies. Some levels focus on straight forward platformer action, while others present you with challenging puzzles that must be overcome in order to progress in the game. To make matters worse, some of King Aster's troops have defected, and so it's really up to you and the remaining troops still loyal to the king, to save the professor and defeat the evil empire. Mischief Makers features a variety of moves at your disposal, and the controls are simple and easy to master quickly. The gameplay introduces new mechanics and smooth integration. The graphics are very well done, backgrounds outstanding, and the actual end of area bosses are really well designed, right up there with Treasure’s finest. This is a great, albeit weird and unique game that is both entertaining and fun. I recommend it. In Japan this game is known as "Yuke Yuke! Trouble Makers" or Go Go!! Trouble Makers. Pre-owned - Includes Game Only, no manual or instructions are included. Mischief Makers game review by "The Prince" NES Gamer.
