n64gm182 - Developed by Locomotive and Published by ASCII Entertainment Software, Inc., "AeroGauge" was released for the Nintendo 64 (N64) Entertainment System on April 1, 1998. This is a 3rd-Person perspective futuristic racing game in the tradition of Extreme G, F-Zero and Wipeout, but that has you mastering both vertical and horizontal space. There are 10 high speed Aero Ships to choose from and you race from a default behind-the-ship viewpoint, but there are also two other race camera viewing options. In Aero Gauge you can race against a friend at a fast paced 1000 miles per hour through six futuristic tracks, each of which features many twists and turns. The ships you compete in act more like planes than land racing machines. This is because you will race not only skimming above the surface of the ground, but also soaring above the race tracks, over the obstacles and past your opponents and even discovering shortcuts. Race solo against the AI controlled ships through the grand prix, or you can play against your friends for best times in the time trial mode. If your ship suffers any damage in the race can pit stop to repair and replenish energy. There are four game modes available in The Nintendo 64 version of AerosGauge. In the Grand Prix Mode you must qualify for a starting position. There are also three difficulty levels for racers both old and young. In the Single Match Mode you race against seven computer AI opponents. The Time Attack Mode is where you race against the clock for best times. Finally, the Vs or versus mode allows you to challenge your friends and race alone (without AI competitors) watching a split-screen. Aeros Gauge features automatic saves to the 64-Meg cartridge. If you want to race against the Ghost in Time Attack Mode you will need a memory pak. There is a handicap setting for those of us who enjoy more competitive races. Pre-owned - Includes Game Only, no manual or instructions are included. AeroGauge Racing game review by "The Prince" NES Gamer.
