This N64 game is a 1st person / 3rd-Person Perspective 3-D futuristic, rail based action shooter. The game scenario is that earth colonies situated on Mars have been invaded by alien ectoplasm. And you must strap yourself in the cockpit of an experimental assault aircraft known as Knife Edge. It is a specialized military attack chopper gunship. It's up to you to battle the army of armored ectoplasm androids out to subjugate the Martian colonies. The skies are swarming with enemy gunships and there are many ground emplacements, so be on your toes. You battle these enemies across six vast stages by aiming a targeting reticule with your analog stick, and you have only one mindset. Defeat the enemy and win the war. What I like about this game is that, unlike most rail shooters, Knife Edge Nose Gunner uses distinctive moving unique camera angles that will automatically move you through the war environment so that you can concentrate fully on enemies and target locks. There are 6 levels you have to fight through to win the game. The graphics are pretty good and the end bosses look great. The sound and music are average, as it has a sort of techno beat thingy going. You can improve your chances of success by aquiring more offense and defense. You gain these powerups by accurate shooting at them. You can play in single player mode and take on the computer AI, or play with up to 3 friends in cooperative mode (which is Great), each of you controlling a seperate air ship in combat.
