Like its predecessor, Burnout 2 cuts right to the chase featuring racing into traffic at high speeds, and being rewarded for the style of your crash. This sequel to Burnout has new modes and higher speeds. And unlike some games whose central point is closed course driving, in this game you drive through cities with real traffic and city infrastructure. You first complete a brief tutorial training session that will instruct you in on how to steer, powerslide (drifting), and drive. This training will explain the rules of the road as you drive. Instead of encouraging safe and strategic driving, Burnout 2 encourages offensive driving. For example, driving on the wrong side of the road, drifting, and barely missing passing traffic all add to your boost "burnout" meter. This aids your attempt to get by anything that gets in the way. The more you your driving is attack oriented and dangerous, the more boost you get! Along with the same sense of being out of control and control as it's predecessor, there are upgraded highly detailed crash animations. What we like best is the very tight control, which is an absolute necessity for such a high speed game. And Point of Impact 2 packages four new modes of play. "Training Mode" is self-explanatory, with the difference that you are going all out and learning at the same time. "Pursuit Mode" has you chased by cops, and to succeed you must crash them out of the race. "Two-Player Mode" has you fleeing from your friend as he chases you. To tell you the truth, the crash mode alone makes this game worthy, but the inclusion of championship and multiplayer modes makes it a must have game for Game cube fans.
