Top Gun: Combat Zones

GCG0130 - Developed by Digital Integration Ltd., and published by Mastiff, LLC, "Top Gun: Combat Zones" was released on October 20, 2002. One of the most notable arcade-style flight simulator games of it's day was Top Gun, and this game has very effectively been brought to the Gamecube platform. This is a very difficult game to master, mainly due to the fact that there are ground as well as air enemy planes and positions you have to consider. But it is also a exiting game to play, and it will really test your reflexes. Top Gun: Combat Zones will send you on 36 different missions in locations around the world. You must complete mandatory training and combat missions in three different landscapes. A Vietnam type landscape, A Gulf War-type landscape, and a futuristic arctic type landscape. And each of these training landscapes has from 5 to 10 training missions. but don't look at this as a distraction, these training missions have method to their madness. They actually prepare you for the later real missions, and this is where you can gain knowledge of flying and fighter skills. They resemble the actual combat missions, so this is really a prep for what lies ahead. Each mission has a set of objectives, and these are varied and grow more difficult as the game progresses. For example, some missions will require you to fly head to head and shoot down enemy MiGs. Other missions will require you to take out ground targets such as a building or anti-aircraft guns. And still others will require you to tackle both ground targets as well as air-to-air combat. Each of your missions is scored on the basis of time, accuracy, damage avoidance and, accuracy and whether you got the enemy before he got you. Graphics are not bad, particularly in replay mode. You start the game with only the F-14 Tomcat, and you must take the mission of Southeast Asia. But by completing your missions, that is what opens the way for more varied planes and missions. I.e., do well and you are rewarded! Overall, Top Gun: Combat Zones is a nice attack Navy plane flight simulator. the gameplay is acceptable, the controls are good, and the plane handles well. Pre-owned. Includes case, disk and instruction manual - Plays on Gamecube or Wii - Rarity Rating D
