If your Gamecube is overheating, don't even bother with trying to repair it, because the board has probably been damaged by the heat. Buy a new motherboard. And one of those cheap add on fans to keep it running perfectly.

I play my Gamecube more than I do my NES or N64, and I consider the second cooling fan attachment a must. It will prolong not only the life of your board and chips but your laser as well.  Let me tell you, "HEAT" is a killer for the Gamecube.

Hit Gurl,
I use both the SNES and the gamecube, depending on my mood. When I don't like all the loading on the Gamecube, I'll play the SNES. Otherwise, I'll load up one of the classics, like Metal Gear solid.

Heat is a killer for any electronics, not just Gamecube. The newer Gamecubes don't have any problems. For the older ones, just get a Gamecube fan.
